About Stade Rugby
Founded in 1989 by a group of rugby enthusiasts at the Lycée Français de Vienne, Stade Rugby Club Vienna began its journey under the name RC Lycée Français de Vienne (RCLFV). From the very beginning, the club was driven by a shared vision: to establish rugby in the region while promoting the sport’s core values of respect, solidarity, and passion.
What started as a small initiative has grown into a thriving community of around 180 active players of all ages, supported by members, families, and friends from across Austria and beyond. Under new, brighter more distinctive colours the club is now known as Stade Rugby Club Vienna.
This club is based in Vienna’s Brigittenau district, where the club trains at Hopsagasse 5 and continues to welcome new players, supporters, and everyone who shares a passion for rugby.
