Stade Rugby Club Wien traveled to Wiener Neustadt to face the Wombats in what turned out to be a fiercely contested match. The hosts proved to be a tough opponent, making every play a challenge and keeping the game tight until the very end. However, our determination and trust in our game plan paid off, allowing us to secure a 27-21 victory.
With this win, we successfully held onto second place in the Alpe Adria Competition standings. Nevertheless, our sights remain set on the top spot, and we’re determined to keep pushing toward our goal.
Coach Bogi shared his thoughts on the performance:
"Despite the physicality of the game, the boys showed grit until the final whistle. They trusted and executed our game plan, which ultimately led us to victory. For now, the focus is on Celtic before heading into the well-deserved winter break. However, it’s clear that the potential within this team has yet to be fully unleashed, even though there are plenty of areas for improvement."
Captain David Partl also expressed his gratitude:
"I want to thank everyone who was there, on and off the field! We played some beautiful rugby and were rewarded with a victory."
Our next and final game before the winter break will be against the Celtic Flying Wanderers on November 30th at 2 PM in Vienna (Steinergasse 12, 1230 Wien). We hope to see many fans there as we aim for another win to close out the year on a high note!
