On November 30, 2024, a historic rugby match took place: the first-ever 15s game between two Austrian women’s teams. Hosts Rugby Union Donau Wien welcomed Stade Rugby Vienna for the Viribus Unitis Cup. After 80 minutes of intense play, the final score was 25:5 in favor of the experienced home team.
For the Stade Ladies, this was a milestone: their very first 15s match. Despite being newcomers, the team delivered impressive moments and maintained a strong defensive effort throughout the game. A highlight of the day was the first-ever 15s try in Stade’s history. Our prop broke through Donau’s defensive line with a powerful run, setting up Caro Gille to score a memorable try – a proud moment for the team.
The game showcased the strength of Donau Wien, while also highlighting the great potential of the Stade Ladies, who managed to put in a solid performance after just three weeks of preparation. The team is optimistic about the future and will build on this.
A big thank you to Rugby Union Donau Wien for their hospitality and to the match officials for their dedication!
